The writer takes that idea and runs with it and invents a world where society literally forces you into relationships, or else turns you into an animal (of your choice).Īnd the second half of the story is the writer asserting their own independence and saying "I don't need anybody in order to be happy. ![]() I imagine the writers thought process went along the lines of: The first half of the movie is all of your friends and family that can't believe you're alone and oh my god how can you not be with someone? And you feel this pressure to be with someone just to shut your friends and family up. ![]() Happiness lay in finding a compromise between individualism, and sharing your life with another. ![]() And people who are loners that think everybody in a relationship is a chump.īoth perspectives have some validity but as with most extremes, both are unpleasant ways to live. ![]() People who can't exist as individuals and literally can't live alone and need to be in a relationship at all times. I interpret it as a reflection on two extremes. ![]()
